Shaykh Mawlana Dr. Moiz Hasan

Shaykh Mawlana Dr. Moiz Hasan has completed his Ph.D. in the History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Notre Dame (USA). He was born and raised in Karachi and received his schooling from the Karachi Grammar School. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.Sc. (Honors) from LUMS concentrating in Mathematics, Philosophy and Islamic Intellectual History. He completed his M.A. in the History of Science and Medicine from the University of Notre Dame (USA) and undertook post-graduate studies in Islamic Science and Philosophy from McGill University.

Mawlana Dr. Moiz studied the traditional Islamic sciences with renowned scholars (‘ulema) in Pakistan under the auspices of the Wifaq ul Madaris al-Arabiyya Pakistan. He undertook the rigorous eight-year traditional curriculum covering a range of disciplines including Arabic, Tafsir of the Qur’an, Hadith, Islamic beliefs (‘aqaid), Logic (mantiq), Law (fiqh) and Legal theory (usul al-fiqh), completing the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum and receiving the ‘Aalim degree. In addition, he was granted formal authorization as a Shaykh in the science of spiritual development (tazkiya) by the honorable Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad.

Mawlana Dr. Moiz has been teaching classes in various Islamic disciplines for the past several years. He has delivered lectures and conducted seminars on Islam at masajid, universities and institutions of learning across the US and Pakistan. Notable among the universities where he has been invited as a guest speaker include McGill University, Concordia University, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Ohio State University, Wayne State University, Islamic Center of Michiana, Islamic Center of Bloomington and University of Notre Dame in North America, and LUMS, IBA, Indus Valley, Jinnah Sindh Medical University, MAJU, Bahria University, FAST and KIET in Pakistan.

Mawlana Dr. Moiz recently moved to Karachi with his family where he continues to deliver talks and guide seekers on the path of drawing closer to Allah SWT. Together with his wife, he has established Maryam Institute, an educational institute for women which offers free on-site programs in Karachi and free online courses for women around the world.


Alimah Sobia Hasan was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan and received her B.Sc. with Honors in Economics and Social Sciences from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). She also worked at the Aga Khan University & Hospital (AKUH) and the Sindh Education Foundation (SEF) in the summers during her college days. After graduation, she taught Islamic Studies to GCE O’Levels and worked as a research assistant at LUMS, before moving to the US where she undertook workshops on teacher training and educational leadership at the Kaneb Center for Teaching and Learning.

During the course of her studies, she was inspired to seek sacred knowledge which took her to attend Mahad al-Khalil, one of Pakistan’s most renowned Islamic institutes. There she completed a four-year, formal study in Qur’an, Hadith, Arabic Grammar & Linguistics, Islamic Law & Legal Theory and Beliefs & Creed. She studied the authentic ahadith collection of the Sihah Sittah under eminent Islamic scholars, including the late Maulana Yahya Madani (rah). In 2009, she was formally awarded the ‘alimiyyah degree certifying her to teach the disciplines of Islamic learning.

Alimah Sobia has been teaching classes in various Islamic disciplines for almost a decade. She has delivered lectures and conducted seminars on Islam at educational institutions, conferences and masajid across the US, Canada and Pakistan. Notable among the universities where she has been invited as a guest speaker include McGill University, Concordia University, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Wayne State and University of Notre Dame in North America, and Aga Khan University (AKUH), LUMS, IBA, DOW and CBM in Pakistan. Moreover, she has tutored and guided hundreds of women on the path of drawing closer to Allah SWT.

Alimah Sobia and her husband have also founded Maryam Institute, an educational institute for women dedicated to offering free, online and in-person authentic Islamic education. Based on her dual background in research and Islam, and her experience as a community mentor, she has designed several short courses offering Islamic knowledge on contemporary and lifestyle issues pertinent to women, and taught them to a wide audience at different venues. Her latest endeavors include her popular “Being Productive” training course on effective self-management in Islam, and “Love to Stay” workshop on healthy, romantic and meaningful marriage.

Currently based in Karachi, she divides her time between the US and Pakistan, and regularly travels with her husband to deliver interactive and uplifting talks to women from all walks of life.



Alimah Maria Mohsin
was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan and received her Bachelors in Business Management and Accounting from IBA (Instiitue of Business Administration). After completing her education, she pursued an intensive full-time study of Dars-e-Nizami under reputable classical scholars, receiving the Alimiyya degree in 2010. Ustadha has been teaching the different disciplines of Islamic learning for the past 5 years and also gives talks on drawing closer to Allah swt.  She has extensive teaching and management experience, having also taught at renowned schools like the Beacon House School System in Islamabad. Alimah Maria specializes in Arabic Grammar and Islamic Jurisprudence. She is a favorite among students due to her sincerity and dedication to serving the Deen of Allah swt. She currently lives in Islamabad with her husband and 4 beautiful children.


Ustadha Dr. Saba Noreen was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan and received her MBBS from the Dow University of Health Sciences and completed her house job from the Civil Hospital, Karachi. She is now working towards specializing in Pediatrics. A hafiza of the Qur’an, Ustadha Saba has been pursuing an intensive study of Dars-e-Nizami at Maryam Institute along side her medical education and is currently in the fourth year of the Alimah Program. She is also a certified tajweed teacher and has been teaching tajweed for the past several years to women and girls from all age groups. She has also received many awards in Qir’at of the Qur’an.
